Rick Ross is wasting no time in getting his Maybach Music Group rolling. The Miami rap don announced that he’s releasing a compilation album called Self Made that will be in stores May 24.

The Bawse delivered the news about the new album via Twitter, including his latest signees — DC rapper Wale, Philadelphia’s Meek Mill and Atlanta MC Pill — in the tweet.

After a bidding war that included Bryan “Baby” Williams’ Cash Money Records and Sean “Diddy” Combs’ Bad Boy Records, the Def Jam artist decided to pass on aligning with another hip-hop mogul, choosing instead to partner with the Warner Music Group to distribute his Maybach Music Group imprint.

“We are thrilled to be in business with Rick Ross,” said Todd Moscowitz, co-president and CEO of Warner Bros. Records, in a statement last month. “We were drawn to his hustle. Ross is an entrepreneur who built his company from the ground up. He’s a music magnate, a lightning rod, and an empire builder. Our partnership with him is about building a brand that endures. We back his vision all the way and are ready to give him the resources he needs to pursue that vision.”

Of the aforementioned artists, Wale was the first to sign with the Bawse’s label, followed by Meek Mill and Pill, who was already a Warner artist.

Other acts on MMG include Gunplay, Torch and Young Breed of rap group Triple Cs as well as R&B singer Masspike Miles. Last July, Rick Ross released his fourth solo album, Teflon Don, which featured the hits “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” and “Aston Martin Music” as well as the street anthem “MC Hammer.”

Beginning March 18, Ross will be heading out on the road with Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne and Travis Barker for the I Am Music II Tour.

Last night Rick Ross and his Maybach Music Group performed for a sold out crowd in NYC. Prior to the show Rozay tweeted a little something that should have all of us excited to hear their upcoming compilation album. Just Blaze’s production will appear on the project. At the moment it is unclear how many songs will be produced by Just. 

Just Blaze had this to say on recording with MMG “lotta ppl asking abt the ross thing. we actually go way back. he was there when i made roc the mic, lollipop (snoop), full effect, the state prop album and a few of the BP2 beats. Incidentally it was also the first time i ever saw someone smoke crack, and that guy almost got the brakes beat off him.. in the studio at that. #warstories.”

Rick Ross’ Maybach Music Group, boasting new additions such as Wale, Meek Mill and Pill, will be releasing a compilation album in the future.

After first dismissing the idea in an interview with rapradar.com, Ross later revealed via MMG’s Twitter account that his collective would work on an album together.

Though not specifying a release date, the tweet did reveal that the album would be titled Selfmade.

Maybach Music Group recently signed with Warner Music Group. The imprint additionally houses Triple C’s.

(RTTNews) - After extended negotiations, Rick Ross‘ Maybach Music Group has partnered with Warner Brothers Records.

Ross, who emerged from the Miami rap scene in 2006, said of the new alliance in a statement, “This deal with Warner Bros. Records has been a long time in the making and I’m confident we’ve found the best home for Maybach Music. Together we’re going to make hit records for years to come.”

Added Warner Bros. Records co-president and CEO Todd Moscowitz, “Ross is an entrepreneur who built his company from the ground up. He’s a music magnate, a lightning rod, and an empire builder. Our partnership with him is about building a brand that endures. We back his vision all the way and are ready to give him the resources he needs to pursue that vision.”

Ross will be touring with Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and Travis Barker this spring for the North American leg of the “I Am Music II” tour, which kicks off on March 18.

He is also currently working on the LP God Forgives, I Don’t, which will follow 2010′s Teflon Don.

With NBA All-Star Weekend in full effect, hip hop’s favorite drummer, Travis Barker, was busy shooting a new video.

MTV News was in Hollywood, CA on set with the Blink-182 drummer, frequent hip-hop remixer and collaborator, Travis Barker’s video for “Can The Drummer Get Some.” The song features the Game, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross and Swizz Beatz and is the lead single for Give the Drummer Some, due in stores March 15, 2011.

In the clip, besides a surly dude with a megaphone asking people to move back to their posts, can be seen the Game, Swizz Beatz and Rick Ross while Barker can be heard off to the side, drumming. Although Barker has said that there will be no one genre on Give the Drummer Some, it is loaded with a who’s who of hip-hop guests. “I just love music,” Barker told Spinner.com last year. “The more I can be around it the better, so with my album it’s no one genre. It goes from everything from punk rock to hip-hop to some electro stuff on there to a metal song…” Only some of the rap acts appearing Barker’s first solo album include Drake, Kid Cudi, Eminem, Clipse, RZA and Beanie Sigel. “Everyone on the album is someone I was blessed to come in contact at one point or another in my life,” Barker told MTV News of the album that is at least two years in the making.

Another song from the project that leaked via behind the scenes footage from its video shoot is “Come N Get Some,” which features the Clipse. Earlier this week, Barker revealed to MTV News that a new Blink 182 album would be finished by early summer and hinted at plans to tour with Kid Cudi. There are also plans to release a Let the Drummer Get Wicked Mixtape via DJ Whoo Kid’s Radioplanet.TV website on February 21.

Three chart-topping hip-hop stars slid through York for a show Saturday — almost undetected.

Rick Ross, Ludacris and Trina performed a private show at the York County Expo Center. The show was part of a travel company’s weekend getaway and was only available to those who purchased the package, according to the company’s website.

Eastern Light Getaways organizes weekend trips featuring a concert. For the past two weekends, the group has organized trips to York featuring Fantasia and Maze and Rick Ross, Ludacris and Trina.

RaVeReNe, Trina’s official DJ, confirmed on Twitter the hip-hop stars were in town for a show.

“JusT Leaving Sound ChecK!! Trina, Rick Ross, Ludacris ToNighT (York Pennsylvania,” she Tweeted.

Several readers called The York Dispatch Sunday and Monday, saying they had heard the hip-hop stars were in town but wondered why there had been no publicity about a concert.

Gene Schenck, York Fair president, said the group rented the Toyota Grandstand for the concerts. He said about 5,000 people were at the past weekend’s show, but it was not open to the public.

“People enjoyed the concert,” he said. “We enjoyed having them.”

Calls to Eastern Light Getaways were not returned Monday.

With the ink still drying from his collaborative distribution deal with Warner Music Group, CEO Rick Ross announced the signing of one of the top talents of the south to his steadily growing roster.

Atlanta rapper Pill now joins a talented roster featuring Washington D.C. area wordsmith Wale, Philadelphia rhyme wrecker Meek Mills, Miami trio Triple C’ and West Coast product Roccett.
Pill has been one of the South’s most respected rappers and his mixture of gruff street raps and grim tales of hustling in “the trap” endeared him to a whole host of fans. Releasing two celebrated mixtapes in 2009, 4180: The Prescription and 4075: The Refill, the dreadlocked rapper born Tyrone Rivers burst onto to the scene with his street hit “Trap Goin’ Ham.” A quieter 2010 saw the new Maybach Music signee releasing just one project – a DJ Drama hosted Gangsta Grillz mixtape titled 1140: The Overdose.

The busy Ricky Rozay expressed some enthusiasm regarding the new deal with Warner Music. “This deal with Warner Bros. Records has been a long time in the making and I’m confident we’ve found the best home for Maybach Music,” said Ross. “Together we’re going to make hit records for years to come.”

Rawse’s penchant for chart topping hit songs bodes well for the imprint and with the aggressive business savvy of Lyor Cohen spearheading the larger operation Ross should see early returns on this latest chapter of his three-year old label.

Pill had been at work on a tentative album The Medicine, keeping with title themes of his mixtapes. No release date has been set.

     The record will be a diverse album and have lots of Hip Hop on it. Featuring an all star guest list including Slaughterhouse (“Devil’s Got A Hold of Me”), Kid Cudi (“Cool Head”), Paul Wall, Kurupt and J Roc (“Don’t F**k With Me) and The Clipse (“City of Dreams”). He released a street single a few months ago which features The Cool Kids and is called “Jump Down”. While his first official single “Can A Drummer Get Some” features The Game, Swizz Beatz, Lil Wayne and Rick Ross.

     Not only will the album feature an impressive guest list the album artwork will also have the best in the business. As artists like Mr. Cartoon(best Tattoo artist ever), Risk One, Skinhead Rob, Cool Head, Jeff Soto, Richard Sanchez contributed to the album artwork, while Rock & Roll artist Pushead created the cover.

     Travis Barker is also in the studio with a reformed Blink-182. The group will drop a new album this year as well.

While some debated over Kanye West and Jay-Z’s verses on “H.A.M.,” others are calling for a remix featuring one specific MC — Rick Ross.

While other names like a certain Brick Squad MC were also  mentioned across the blogsphere — hello Waka Flocka Flame! — Ross’ name was echoed the loudest. RapFix turned to rap critics for their take on a Bawse remix.

“I need a Rick Ross addendum verse on ‘H.A.M’ stat,” Clover Hope, Senior Editor of VIBE magazine tweeted.

Ernest Baker, Assistant Editor at Complex magazine noted past Ross remixes, saying “A Rick Ross remix would help sway a lot of people who are on the fence about this record. I think one should happen, but it’d be cool if Ross stuck to a supporting role like with ‘Monster.’ For most of his remixes, Ross leaves a good amount of the original song intact, so it’d be cool if he just tacked on a short verse at the end of ‘H.A.M.’”

“It’s a safe bet that the Bawse would drop a mean 16 over the ‘H.A.M.’ instrumental, he probably already has the song ready,” Alvin Blanco, music journalist for AOL, VIBE, XXL, and others, said. “But, if you’re looking for a Rick Ross remix a little faster, all you really have to do is listen to ‘B.M.F.’ or ‘MC Hammer.’ “

“What’s flimsy about ‘H.A.M.’ is Kanye West and Jay-Z usually set the trends and not follow them. By hopping on a Lex Luger track, they were following Rick Ross’ blueprint for club smashes,” Kazeem Famuyide, Online Editor at Source magazine, said. “This track would’ve fit better with Ross replacing Kanye, but I feel like a Rozay remix will give this joint life. Right now, ‘H.A.M.’ isn’t kosher.”

The consensus is in favor of Ross remixing “H.A.M.” and it’s doubtful that Lex Luger would mind collaborating with the Bawse again. Rap fans won’t.

Known for spicing up a remix, Busta Rhymes lends his rhyming talent to the Kanye and Jay’s track. Despite what people say about Busta, there is no denying that he went in on this one. Just when you count him out, he shows why he’s been in the game for many years.

There’s something that felt a little off about slapping a name like St. Louis State of Emergency on Monday night’s concert at Chaifetz Arena.

The concert’s name was in response to the controversial report that St. Louis is the country’s most dangerous city.

But the show, which took place on the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, showcased Rick Ross, Waka Flocka Flame, Trina, Lloyd and Travis Porter, some of whom have some merit but don’t exactly preach peace, love and understanding.

Artists loosely addressed the State of Emergency name. The trouble-attracting Flame, of all people, noted it most memorably when he coarsely said “(Forget) what the whole world thinks about y’all. I love y’all.”

New rap group Travis Porter said it was time for St. Louis to stop the violence because there was too much of it, while R&B singer Lloyd said it’s time to represent King correctly. Promoter Slim of Loosecannon Entertainment told the crowd he intentionally held the concert on the holiday to show the city young African-Americans could converge at a major event without incident.

But some of the acts’ songs ended with gunfire and glass-shattering effects from the DJ, which disrespectfully contradicted the message.

Though Ross was the night’s headliner and closing act, it was Flame who stole the show. Flame is a big mess of a rapper, from his recent legal woes to his rapping about nothing. But he’s huge on the streets with songs performed at this show such as “Hard in Da Paint” and “(Expletive) This Industry.” Rapper Wale joined in during their “No Hands” remix.

Ross, the best rapper on the bill, actually lost the crowd as his set wore on to the point where his songs ended with no applause. Clearly, this was Flame’s crowd, and Ross had problems keeping their attention on songs such as “Everyday I’m Hustlin,” “The Boss,” “All I Do I Win,” “Aston Martin Music” and “Play Your Part” featuring Wale.

Female rapper Trina showed she’s still worthy of the game during her set that included a bit too much fiddling with her tight and apparently uncomfortable spiked corset. She finally hit the stage after a long delay for songs such as “Pull Over,” “That’s My Attitude,” “Nann,” “Here We Go Again” and the “5 Star Chick” remix.

Lloyd’s serviceable set opened with “Bedrock,” which has the memorable lyrics “call me Mr. Flintstone, I can make your bed rock,” along with “Get It Shorty,” “You,” “Girls All Around the World” and “Lay It Down.”

The unremarkable Travis Porter, a late addition to the show’s lineup, offered “Make It Rain,” “Go Shorty Go,” “Get Naked” and “Bring It Back,” songs that got the crowd moving early.

It’s a go time for Cash Money Young Money. As Birdman released his “Fire Flame” remix and Lil Wayne shot his “6 Foot 7 Foot” video with Cory Gunz, DJ Khaled introduced the first single, “Welcome to My Hood,” from his upcoming album, We The Best Forever. MTV News spoke to the Miami-based DJ about Rick Ross’ contribution to the record.

“Ricky Rozay, that’s my right hand. He gave me another classic verse — because we always do classics together — but this verse is a little special because you can hear it in the tone of his voice,” Khaled said of Ross’ rhymes.

“Lord forgive for my sins, that’s my confession if they pull me in this Benz, I got possession of a federal offense,” the Bawse spits. “I’m talking pressure, in my criminal intent, so wear your vests/ And I’m still gon’ stunt like it ain’t no tomorrow/ F— your house note n—a, blow that bitch on a bottle.”

“I told Ross this is … something you don’t even give yourself,” Khaled said. “He gave me that ‘Huh!’ to a whole other level, you can hear it in his voice.”

Recently, fans joined together in a resounding request for Ross: Remix Kanye West and Jay-Z’s “H.A.M.”

Ross had a hell of a 2010, dropping the thumping “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” from his excellent album Teflon Don, the fourth near-flawless LP in his discography.

Just before the holidays ended, though, Ross returned once more to drop his mixtape Ashes to Ashes, which he later re-released, revamping the effort with joints from Drake and his MMG acquisitions Meek Mill and Wale.

“I think it’s the beginning of a lot of big things to come,” Ross told Mixtape Daily about the collection. “So I wanted to give the people something before the year was out … because I have a new album I’m cooking up. … I feel like it’s a new beginning.

“There’s a lot of things that got to go. And this is the beginning of some new things that [will] pop off in music. Some new sounds, some new styles, some new techniques, some new bosses. And that’s what it’s about.”

Even though the track “Welcome to My Hood” dropped just two weeks ago, DJ Khaled wasted no time getting his superstar homies to the M.I.A. to shoot the accompanying video.

Khaled — along with Lil Wayne, Plies, Rick Ross and T-Pain — headed to the Overton area of Miami on Thursday to shoot the ‘hood-centric visual and told MTV News that the clip will reflect the same rugged bombast of the posse cut.

“We going in,” he said, with his trademark hype-the-hell-out-of-everything energy. “This the movie: ‘Welcome to My Hood,’ biggest record in the country, hurtin’ the streets right now.”

Director Gil Green, who has helmed tons of Khaled visuals, said the video will demonstrate what the Miami DJ is known for: packing his visuals with A-list hip-hop names.

“DJ Khaled, he always brings the all-star team, and that’s what he’s doing today,” he said. Green added that he was on hand to add artistic finesse to the clip. “We shooting a movie-type video — a lot of cinematic camera work and flavor and a lot of ‘hood stuff.”

Frequent Khaled collaborator T-Pain said the single from the We the Best Forever star’s first Cash Money project is a follow-up to another major record, which also features the Auto-Tune king, alongside Trick Daddy, Ross and Plies.

“This one’s special, ’cause everyone was asking for ‘I’m So Hood’ part two, and that’s what we giving everybody,” Pain explained. “So, you know, in due time, we gonna get to everyone’s request, but right now, we just working on ‘I’m So Hood’ part two, ‘Welcome to My Hood.’ It’s part two, and it’s gonna do just as good as ‘I’m So Hood.’ ”

“I’m So Hood (Remix)” alum Wayne was also around for the fun — although he did cop to getting shaken up while filming one of the scenes on a raised platform.

“We just shot a shot up there; it was super scary,” Weezy said. “I don’t know about these n—as, but I’m scared of heights.”

Aside from briefly facing his fear for a dope “Hood” shot, Wayne, who was accompanied by Cash Money boss Birdman and Young Money honcho Mack Maine, maintained he was feeling good otherwise and admitted he had another mission to tackle off set: finding ladies.

“I’m fresh out,” he said. ” … Holla at ya boy if you see me in the streets, baby.”

Today MTV News spoke with producer Lex Luger who’s behind Rick Ross’ “B.M.F,” Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “H.A.M.” and Waka Flocka’s “Hard In Da Paint” as well as Fabolous’ “Lights Out.” The 19-year-old broke down a few of his hits for our “Mixtape Daily.”

Rick Ross’ “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)”: “To take something that a lot of people thought was nothing and to turn it into another dimension of sound was crazy to me,” Luger said. “The reaction from people that I saw was crazy to me. That’s when I really knew this is what I wanted to do.”

Waka Flocka Flame’s “Hard In Da Paint”: Luger said he was in Atlanta the first time he heard it. “I don’t listen to the radio or go out that much; I just work,” he explained. “When I got to Atlanta, I think I was on the way back from the airport and my boy turned on the radio. My boy was like, ‘Yeah, this is it.’ I said, ‘Turn it up,’ and it felt crazy.”

Jay-Z and Kanye West’s “H.A.M.”: ” ‘H.A.M.’ really came about in New York City. Me and Kanye, we had did ‘See Me Now.’ I played him a lot of beats, but he liked the ones that I didn’t expect him to like. I left, like, eight beats with him; he called me, like, two weeks later and he said he wanted, for sure, two. That was one of the ones. … I sent him the track out. He did what he did to it, still I didn’t hear the song. I couldn’t hear it until everyone else heard it. Working with Kanye was crazy. I can’t really explain it. He’s a perfectionist. He has to have everything perfect and out the ordinary, 10 times greater than everything. He’s a crazy guy, but he’s fire.”

To the displeasure and disbelief of many music enthusiasts and especially patronizers of the Rick Ross show, the man of the night had to perform early and leave the country as close sources to the organizing body have indicated. Many people who were an hour or so late missed out on the Teflon Don’s performance which was actually short lived and very brief especially if measured up to the hype and the standard of such shows.

From one angle is the question of how Ghanaians treat time especially when it comes to events on the other hand is the question of why the major act of a concert has to perform so briefly and early. A press conference scheduled for the morning of the concert overlooked major media houses and was nothing less than a flop.

The question then is did the organizing company do its homework well. We’ve seen major acts perform on our soil and the treat given to us by the organizers of the Rozay concert is highly unacceptable. We all saw it when Jay Z was in town, mostly these acts are the last or the pen ultimate act of the night, not the first and definitely not the second. The many people who held on to their tickets and secured places at the grounds slated for the after party were dealt a humpty dumpty joke as there was no Rick Ross at the after party.

Reliable sources have indicated that the B.M.F star had a flight due at 9pm on the night of the concert but had the flight delayed because of him. Two questions reign supreme on the mind of many: Where was Ricky going to? and why would you secure an artiste when you know he already has a different gig or would be busy on the day of your concert. Let the people be the ultimate judges.

If you’ve been following, The Teflon Don is already starting out the new year with quick progress, dropping yet another new track called “Pandemonium” featuring the newest members of the Maybach family, DC killer Wale, and Philly rapper Meek Millz. 

If you’re familiar, you’ll catch that Meek Mill spits a few lines from his track “I Want Em All” off of his Flamerz 3 Mixtape, but it’s not an issue, because the point of this track, at least to me, seems to be Ross’ way of showing off the new arsenal he’s signed to Maybach. I’ve already dropped it in my playlist, and listened straight through three times after hearing it for the first. Maybach Music’s got a great outlook set for 2011, as do most hip-hop and rap artists, so keep your eyes on the trio, as more collaborations are sure to come.

In case you missed it yesterday, Ross phoned up Power 105FM to drop his new track “Made Men feat. Drake” and announce his upcoming album that will be titled God Forgives, I Don’t. Check it out at the jump.

Rick Ross has come a long way from his “Hustlin’ ” days.

The Florida MC premiered the first single, “Made Men” featuring Drake, from his forth-coming LP, God Forgives, But I Don’t but it’s his Ashes To Ashes mixtape that’s ruling our iTunes. The Bawse spoke to MTV News about stretching himself creatively on this tape with a name you might not expect — or at least we didn’t.

“On this mixtape, it’s all new music which I recorded at the Maybauch Music studios,” he said. “We’ve got Wiz Khalifa, T.I., Aaliyah, Barry White, Ne-Yo and of course my team’s on the mixtape. We tried some different things, shout out to Chester French.”

Interesting, right? We haven’t heard much from the Pharrell Williams-affiliated pop group since their 2009 LP Love The Future, but we’re definitely curious to see what they did with Rozay.

“We did some different things and I think that everybody really appreciates the direction,” Rick said. “It’s another opportunity to show my supporters what I’m capable of doing on my off time and when I’m on tour. The mixtape might’ve taken me three weeks to put together while I was on tour, it was a dope experience.”

And while many felt that the MC may’ve been snubbed by the Grammy’s nominations as well as the Soul Train Awards, Ross is taking it all in stride.

“It’s not about receiving critical acclaim, it’s about becoming comfortable,” Ross said. “I think that’s when you really find out who you are musically and can really challenge yourself and take it even further.”

The Miami rapper unleashes the Drake-assisted “Made Men,” the first offering from his fifth album God Forgives, I Don’t. With a tinkering beat similar to “MC Hammer” and “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast),” the banger, originally intended for inclusion on Ashes, features Rozay’s signature stunted delivery and witty rhymes.

“That ’65, I call it Rihanna/ It got a red top, but it’s white like Madonna/ Made men, you hear what I said?/ Havin’ a slumber party, all my bitches countin’ bread,” raps the Bawse. “One of my baddest women ever, I call her Rihanna/ But that’s ’cause her name is Rihanna,” echoes Drizzy.

Rawse called in this morning to Power 105 to break the news about the album. “I’m in Swisher Studios right now working on my new project,” he said. “50 percent of the album [is] already [done]. This is the first time I’m revealing it, but the name of the album is ‘God Forgives, I Don’t.”

The choice of album title might ruffle some feathers, as Bronx rapper Cory Gunz revealed that his solo debut EP would bear that title in August 2010. The Young Money signee previously said that he was holding off on releasing the project so that the promotion and timing was right. “It’s ready but I wanted to make sure I could put the project out properly,” Gunz told VIBE.com. “I’m not trying to flood the market and oversaturate myself. So I’m taking long to keep building the anticipation for this one.”

Ross also shared that he originally intended to include ‘Made Men’ on his ‘Ashes to Ashes’ mixtape, but decided to keep it for his studio LP. “One of the records that I excluded off the mixtape was ‘Made Men’ featuring the homie Drake. I wanted to put some final touches on it and I wanted to give you the opportunity to bless the world with that,” he said.

While on the other end of the line, Ricky also stated that Wale was currently with him in Swisher Studios recording music. Though he didn’t confirm Wale and Meek Millz’s signing to his Maybach Music imprint, he said that the deals are currently being finalized.

Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” landed on almost ever 2010 Top 10 year-end list and with good reason. But if you still needed proof of his brilliance, check out the just-released video for “Monster.”

The audio track features Jay-Z, Nicki Minaj and Rick Ross and they all show up for this chilling, yet riveting clip that takes on the demons within as well as the blood suckers who feed on them.  It’s raw—as any video that begins with a hanging body would be—and feels like a brutal reveal of West’s psyche, when he calls himself a monster. He is also apparently a monster who has a necrophiliac menage a trois on gorgeous blue satin sheets.

Vampires haunt him and others (check out the zombies eating what sure looks like Justin Bieber around the two-minute mark), with their sharp teeth and their blood-red nails.

West generously shares the spotlight, with Ross, Minaj and Jay-Z all getting their moment (We didn’t catch Bon Iver, although we may have just been blinded by the rest). Jay-Z shows up tuxedo-clad with a nude, dead body in the library (it’s like a game of “Clue”), which he’s virtually oblivious to until the end.

Oh, we can spend hours alone dissecting the Nicki Minaj breakdown that features her as both torturer/vampire and kidnap victim. The schizoid rant she goes on that fits in perfectly with the overall theme.

Although it is unclear why he was targeted, police officials believe that the shooting was no coincidence. “We do not believe this was a random act, so someone out there knows something,” said Tania Rues, of the Miramar police department. “We do know there are multiple suspects. They approached the homeowner, as he was approaching the residence.”

Relatives of Adderly noted that he was father to three sons, ages 3, 5, and 7. “We’re in shock,” Adderly’s brother-in-law Gentry Chamber told local news station WSVN Channel 7. “It’s awful. It’s awful my nephews and sister have to go through this during the holidays.”

A neighbor, Rodnika Beasluy, told reporters that Adderly worked in the music industry and had ties to Ross. “[They were] like best friends,” she said. But the status of the victim’s relationship with Ross has not been confirmed yet.

The lyrics to Kanye West’s all-star track “Monster” are full of dark images of bloodsuckers, dead hands, the devil, sarcophagi, ghouls, goblins, murder, fangs and Chucky from “Child’s Play.”

And though he’s not often one to take such a literal path in the imagery that accompanies his songs, a leaked version of the unfinished video for West’s “Monster” lives up to the gruesome, blood-drenched lyrical barbs served up in the song by Yeezy, Rick Ross, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj. The fuller version is in keeping with the gory glimpses seen in late November when a preview leaked online.

At press time, West had not commented on the leak, but online hip-hop communities were abuzz about the transgressive nature of the images in the five-minute clip. It opens with the disturbing sight of several woman in lingerie and high heels hanging from nooses around Ross as he sits on a throne and smokes a cigar, then switches to a scene of West being groped by the hands of unseen women reaching through a metal gate.

As he raps about “the best living or dead, hands down, huh?” West pops up shirtless on a bed with electric-blue sheets next to two hollow-eyed women in lingerie. They appear to be dead as he positions their limp arms around each other. What follows are scenes in which a woman in a designer dress drags a lifeless man’s body across the floor and then draws blood as she steps on his chest with her spiked heels.

The clip, which borrows heavily from monster and horror movie tropes seen in such films as “Saw,” “Night of the Living Dead” and “American Psycho,” depicts Kanye in a mansion trying to hold back a horde of zombie attackers, dead women splayed out on dinner tables, a zombie couple feasting on a bloody corpse, glowing-eyed ghoulies crawling down halls, Jay-Z rapping in a crisp suit in front of a dead naked woman draped face-down on a leather couch, and West standing in cowboy gear while holding a woman’s severed head.

Amidst all these graphic images of decapitated and dismembered female forms comes a scene in which Nicki, wearing black leather bondage gear and wielding a leather riding crop, engages in a psychological showdown with herself. She’s seen riding herd over a hooded figure in a white wedding dress strapped to an executioner’s chair, wielding a long, sharp sword. Once the hood is removed, it’s clear that Minaj is confronting her pink-wigged Barbie alter ego as the two sides of her personality engage in a death match that swings from a lap dance to seeming threats of murder.

The flesh feast ends with glimpses of a female werewolf in black teddy and rocking bushy grey muttonchops dancing in front of a fire, West cuddling in bed with his deceased female companions and pale hands reaching out from behind a door.

No release date has been announced for the official version of the “Monster” video.

In April at the U.S. District Federal Court in New York, a jury of eight awarded DJ Vlad (real name: Vlad Lyubovni) $250,000 in punitive damages and $50,000 in compensatory damages against Ross. The four-day court proceedings stem from an August 10, 2008, incident involving Vlad and Ross’ Triple C’s group. Vlad alleged that Ross orchestrated an attack on him by the collective at an event at the 2008 Ozone Awards for posting images of Ross dressed in a correctional officer’s uniform on his Web site.

In the $4 million suit, Vlad said he suffered a broken eye socket, a broken nose, nerve damage to his face, cheek, upper lip, teeth and gums, and required seven stitches under his right eye. 

See there was this little thing around his name. It seems the imprisoned ex-drug dealer that the Miami MC had named himself after (Freeway Ricky Ross), was planning a lawsuit against the rapper born William L. Roberts II.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ricky had officially filed the suit in federal court in California to the tune of $10 million. He claimed that ?William? stole his name and identity and wanted to stop the sale of his album. He also attempted to trademark his name and sought an injunction that would prevent the rapper from using the ?Rick Ross? name or releasing any albums using it.

Well, it seems trademarking a drug dealer?s name isn?t high on the court?s agenda.  The lawsuit was thrown out and Teflon Don hit the shelves in July. 

Laced with cameos from Jay-Z (“Free Mason”), Diddy and Trey Songz (“No. 1″), and Kanye West, the album was one of the biggest hip-hop albums of the year. 

And whether you loved him or hated him, Ross had one of the biggest songs of the year in ?B.M.F. (Blowin? Money Fast).

“B.M.F.” wasn’t a huge mainstream hit, mostly because it wasn’t designed to be. But from the moment it first premiered both the streets and the clubs in a stranglehold, and it didn’t let up for the rest of the year.

Although Ross’ detractors could (and did) point to the song as a prime example of his imagination, “B.M.F.” packs such a punch that any debate about its authenticity seems rather pointless. Ross has always been a gifted storyteller, as evidenced by the wide-screen world he’s created for himself, a downright “Scarface”-ian sphere of swagger and sophistication.

In the end, it doesn’t matter whether Ross actually moves keys of coke through Biscayne Bay. With his minks and Maybachs, mansions and machine guns, Ross’ whole shtick may be downright fictional, but his talent, his power, his heft is unquestionably real. Hallelujah.

The concert that was expected to have an eclectic collection of popular Ghanaian faces and time-tested music of the hip-hop music scene came off with Rick Ross rather performing very early, taking the stage before 8pm.

Rick Ross, born William Leonard Roberts II emerged on stage with his 15 man crew, greeted with the loudest cheers from the crowd.

Fantasy Entertainment is rumoured to have paid Rick Ross $170, 000. It wouldn’t have changed anything, if they announced that Rick Ross was catching an early flight to south Africa so would perform early just to avoid the angry crowd.

Tickets prices were 75Ghc for Regular Tickets , 105 Ghc for V.I.P and 150 Ghc for V.V.I.P. Rick Ross tackled songs from his old albums to the current ones from his platinum-selling album, “Teflon Don” album though out the 60 minutes he was on stage.

The moment the beat of BMF was dropped, the whole auditorium started rapping along “I think I’m big meech Larry Hoover//, whipping work, hallelujah,one nation under god real niggas getting money from the fucking start”.

The new Ghanaian rendition of Rick Ross BMF (Blow Money Fast) goes like “I think am big meat, ma chi mu mugu…Ghanaians, conference centre….. hallelujah fada Christmas. Performing Veri Fast (PVF= BMF). The show opened around 6pm with J-Town’s performance followed by label mate EL dishing out good GH hiphop music.

Kwaw Kese stayed true to his words and came down from USA purposely for the Rick Ross concert and was right up next after Rick Ross left stage.

Tiffany does her best to kindle the energy of the crowd; a daunting task for the only female act on the bill. She was later joined by Sarkodie to do the remix of “Fake London”.

Coming from UK and label mate of Sarkodie and Akon, Sway’s performance on stage was so good that he had the crowd shouting along with him. His fans helped out on party favorites like “F Ur Ex,” “Intoxicated” and more. You could feel the bass deep down in your chest and rattling your head around when he took it to the UK level with his ‘grimey’ songs.

Trigmatic seemed to be having fun and he shared that joy of performing with the audience, who were on their feet the entire time and sang along with him.

D-Black rolled out next on stage with an intro boasting about his 15 music nominations. His performance was accompanied by Dr Cryme and his young hype boy, Dee-Money.

Tinny “Aletse” was next on stage and delivered a humble and heartfelt acknowledgment to his fans present. During his performance, DJ-Black, the official DJ and MC for the nite signaled him to cut his performance short to which Aletse Tinny wasn’t too pleased with. He left the stage with his fans yearning for more of his music.

Asem took the stage next after a short intermission. Asem’s performance was centered around creating this jokes from his songs. “2011 Fylla. “Rick Ross come perform early and go”, were some of his new lines. The fine boy rapper clanked out a dozen crowd-pleasing hits that had the house on its feet for most of his time on stage.

There were so many things that will always make Charter House be the leaders of event organising in Ghana. Things that amounted to them was poor publicity, bad security, not willing to release all the ‘charged fees’ to the local artistes before they mounted the stage and more.

Ross leads the singles chart with “Aston Martin Music,” featuring Drake and Chrisette Michele. Minaj tops the albums chart with Pink Friday.

“Aston Martin Music” is also number two on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and number 30 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It comes in ahead of Waka Flocka Flame‘s “No Hands,” which sits at number two. Minaj makes an appearance on the songs chart at number three with “Right Thru Me.” Wiz Khalifa‘s “Black And Yellow” and Lil Wayne‘s “Right Above It,” featuring Drake, round out the top five songs.

Pink Friday comes in ahead of T.I.‘s No Mercy, which lands in the number two slot. Eminem remains in the top five with Recovery standing at number three. Kanye hits number four with My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Lil Wayne completes the top five with I Am Not A Human Being.

When you think of Christmas Eve, you might think of presents coming soon. Or you may think of an obese corrections officer posing as a drug kingpin so he can sell rap albums. Thankfully, Rick Ross has your number.

The rapper has been having a stellar year in album sales and has decided to put a cap in it by releasing a mixtape on Christmas Eve titled Ashes to Ashes. No doubt the album contains his meditations on what it means to be celebrating Christmas in a postmodern landscape and a crumbling economy – or he might just be pouring cognac on some bitches. You never know. He might be discussing the validity of the debate over Christmas language or phrasing, or he may be pouring cognac on some bitches.

But he’s had a good year. Teflon Don was named the New York Times #1 album of 2010 – number one. Which means over everything else, Teflon Don was the most meritorious. Over albums by Mavis Staples, Kanye West, Ceelo Green, all of them. Ricky Ross reigns supreme.

You can find the album for download for FREE on his website, and if you’re running out of gift ideas, just DL and burn it for your favorite relative. But be prepared.

He might just start pouring cognac on bitches.

Rick Ross is a man of honor.

The Miami Don recorded a video for his Lil Wayne-assisted track “Veteran’s Day,” but the Boss waited until the Cash Money superstar was released from prison before putting out the track.

“I just wanted to hold it down until the homie came home and celebrate like that with the homie,” Ross told MTV News.

Weezy wasn’t able to see the final version of the visual before he turned himself in to begin an eight-month prison sentence on Rikers Island in March. Now free, though, Ross said Wayne has had a chance to see the finished product.

“Birdman hit me after we released the video, he bigged up Spiff,” Ross said of the Cash Money label head giving props to director Spiff TV. “He bigged up the whole team. This is what we gonna keep doing.”

The horn-laden track leaked prior to the release of Ross’ Teflon Don album, but he decided to keep the song off of that project. Instead, he held onto the full-length version. (The leak featured only a portion of the track and didn’t include all of the lyricists who make the final cut.) Ross said the track is now a gift for fans; he has no plans to place it on a future album or mixtape.

“I had the love to follow through with the video and execute it and deliver it,” he explained. “It was a record that I loved, that just didn’t make it. A lot of times it just happens like that. This is as far as it’s gonna go. It’s for the people.”

Last month, Rick Ross bossed up at #5 on MTV News’ Hottest MCs list, the same ranking he earned in 2009. But rather than rest on his laurels, he’s already back in the studio, and there’s no way he’ll settle for anything less than #1 on next year’s list.

“I’m just happy to be a part of it, you know? I respect the panel, I respect MTV, and I love this hip-hop game, so I just love being competitive,” Ross told MTV News on the red carpet of the 2010 Soul Train Awards in Atlanta on Wednesday night. “But you know, I’m back in the studio, and I’m coming for that #1 spot.”

But just because Ross is already working on the follow-up to Teflon Don, that doesn’t mean he’s ready to move on from the album just yet. Last month, he premiered a video for “Aston Martin Music,” and he just shot a clip for “MC Hammer.” Those vids — plus the massive success of tracks like “B.M.F. (Blowin’ Money Fast)” — have helped lift Don to gold status, something that most rappers would be content with these days. But, again, Ross isn’t most rappers, and he’s planning to push the album to platinum status and beyond.

“It just feels good in this climate,” he said. “When I got word that Teflon Don was certified gold, and they told me the amount of artists that went gold this year, that made me appreciate it even more. [But] we grindin’ it out to platinum. … ‘Aston Martin Music,’ we got a few more videos we filming. Team Rozay, we workin’ hard, baby.”

"Devil In A New Dress" was the first G.O.O.D. Friday track to appear that wasn't a remix of a previously existing song. Seems like ages ago, doesn't it? Anyway, the song is re-appearing as part of Kanye West's My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy with an added instrumental section and a verse from Rick Ross tacked on. The song is now twice as long as it was in G.O.O.D. Friday form, but Bink's loose, wailing-strings-and-soul-samples beat simply doesn't get old. Ross is also in top form here, absolutely commanding his section of the track. Give it a listen below.

The Boss delivered in the nick of time.

According to Rick Ross, the Miami rapper gave Kanye West his verse for the revamped “Devil in a New Dress” as the deadline drew near for West to turn in the completed My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy collection.

“I got a call, they wanted me to be a part of that record,” Ross told MTV News on the red carpet at Wednesday’s Soul Train Awards. “It was actually the last day before Kanye had to turn the record in, and I think that pressure just made it that much more special to me. So I just sat there, approached the record openly and as straightforward as I could. When I laid the verse, 30 minutes later, I was extremely happy. I sent it to him, and he was too. I think it was one of the dopest verses I did this year.”

Ross appears on the tail end of the track, which premiered as a part of West’s “G.O.O.D. Friday” series in early September.

Originally, the song — produced by Bink — was sparse, with a tickling piano chord and a smooth Smokey Robinson vocal sample as West raps a slick story about love and lust.

The re-engineered “Devil in a New Dress” features a synth-heavy breakdown, complete with guitar riffs, before Ross arrives, spitting: “I never needed acceptance from you outsiders/ Had cyphers with Yeezy before his mouth wired/ Before his jaw shattered, climbing up the lord’s ladder/ We still speeding, running signs like they don’t matter.”

Ross spent time last winter working with West on his project. The two completed Ross’ “Live Fast, Die Young,” and the Miami rapper appeared on West’s “Monster.”

In a July appearance on “RapFix Live,” The Boss compared the recording sessions to school. “It’s like everybody is a student: You walk into a session, and it’s all about the subject at hand,” he explained.

Ricky Rozay and Diddy have been heavily promoting their Bugatti Boyz clique on Twitter … and have been hangin’ out pretty heavy ever since Diddy took on the role as Ross’ manager earlier this year.

In this clip, released on Diddy’s PTwittyTV Youtube channel, both men talk about recording an EP together. However, they do not reveal any details and/or a release date. All both Ross and Diddy say is they have a lot to get off their chest.

Keri Hilson is a sucker for love on “The Way You Love Me,” the latest offering from her sophomore album No Boys Allowed (Dec. 21). Miss Keri oohs and aahs over the fast-paced beat, while giving her man just what he needs. “Yeah, it’s me, that’s where you wanna be/ I got the kind of lovin’ that’ll keep you out the streets,” she sings, before Rick Ross swoops her off her feet.

A mini-movie for the Polow Da Don-produced song was shot last month in L.A. Directed by renowned choreographer Laurieann Gibson, the video co-stars Ross, JoJo, Lloyd, Faith Evans, Columbus Short, and more.

Although his domestic chart sales show approximately 453,000 units sold, Miami, Florida emcee Rick Ross has claimed that Teflon Don has reached gold. The Def Jam Records star tweeted that he has reached 500,000 units sold of the July 20 release featuring Jay-Z, Drake and Cee-Lo Green.

Teflon Don is the second Def Jam Records album to reach gold this year, after Ludacris’ Battle of the Sexes.

Rick Ross has said he will premiere a video for the Lex Luger-produced “MC Hammer” tomorrow.

In May of 2010, “Freeway” Ricky Ross announced he would file a $10 million trademark infringement lawsuit against rapper Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Def Jam and Universal Music Group, for allegedly illegally profiting off of his name.

The lawsuit, filed in the United States District for Southern California, claimed the rapper, born William Leonard Roberts II, infringed on Freeway Ricky’s intellectual property rights by using the name to market his music.

Freeway Ricky claimed Rick Ross’ image was based largely on his real life image as a former cocaine boss that moved thousands of kilos of crack cocaine in Los Angeles during the mid 1980′s and early 1990′s, before being caught up in the infamous Iran-Contra Scandal. 

The lawsuit claimed that Freeway Ricky Ross’ real name had “secondary meaning” and value in commerce, due to his name being exploited in magazines, television specials and movies, like 100 Kilos.

It was that very fact that resulted in his lawsuit being dismissed.

“In support of his trademark claims, Plaintiff alleges that his name was well known in the drug trade and by law enforcement segments of the urban crime, rap and black comity because he did business as Rick Ross, until he was arrested, prosecuted and incarcerated in federal prison. Because this illegal activity cannot be used to establish secondary meaning, such allegations do not provide support for Plaintiff having a valid trademark for his name.”

Jay-Z was named in the lawsuit because he signed Ross to Island Def Jam in 2006, while he was President of the label.

It is unlikely that an appeal to the ruling will get far.

Southern rapper Rick Ross‘ Teflon Don has reportedly reached gold status since being released over the summer.

The “Boss” informed his fans of the achievement early Saturday (November 6) morning.

“We certified gold!!!!!!!!!! #teflondon,” Ross tweeted. (Rick Ross’ Twitter)

The achievement was also echoed by Bad Boy Records CEO Diddy.

Upon its release last July, Ross’ record pushed over 170,000 copies in its first-week.

NEW YORK – A federal judge in Los Angeles has rejected a $10 million claim by a convicted drug kingpin who shares the same name as rapper Ricky Ross.

“Freeway” Ricky Ross filed the lawsuit in June alleging that the hip-hop star had stolen his name and identity and that rap mogul Jay-Z had led a commercial conspiracy that traded upon the notorious exploits of the inner-city crime legend.

The plaintiff was convicted of running a drug empire that covered Los Angeles in the 1980s and 1990s. He became nationally known when he was linked to the CIA’s “Iran-Contra” political scandal and had been the object of scorn for many prominent politicians.

In 1995, he was released from prison, and claims that his name has gained value and goodwill since then. He also asserted a trademark over his name since his celebrity has conferred it with a secondary meaning. In an amended complaint, Ross also pointed out that he had licensed his name for the film “100 Kilos.”

Ross targeted the rapper whose second LP “Trilla” sold 500,000 units and debuted at the top of the Billboard charts, as well as Jay-Z and their respective labels.

He sued on many counts, but after withdrawing some of his claims, he was still pursuing the defendants for trademark violations, unfair competition,and misappropriation of his publicity rights.

In deciding to dismiss the case on summary judgment, Judge Percy Anderson analyzed the defendant’s alleged violations of the Lanham Act, which covers trademark law. He ruled that the plaintiff can’t win a trademark infringement claim or win on grounds of unfair competition because “Freeway” Ricky Ross can’t legitimately show he has trademark rights to his name.

Anderson dismissed the plaintiff’s publicity rights claims too, declining to address the merits of his allegation because it was a state-based claim and he had federal jurisdiction. If the former drug kingpin wants to pursue the case further, and take advantage of California’s generous laws protecting the names and likenesses of celebrities, “Freeway” Ricky Ross still has the opportunity to refile a more narrow lawsuit in state court.

Ross, who is featured on Diddy and Dirty Money’s remix to “Angels,” has had a well documented feud with rapper 50 Cent, in addition to Floyd Mayweather.

The pair buried the hatchet last month, after a New Year’s celebration almost turned violent when their respective entourages clashed at a party hosted by Diddy at new nightclub, Vanity, inside of the Hard Rock Hotel.

“I hear lately that Puff Daddy has been saying Rick Ross is the next Biggie Smalls. That’s not true,” Mayweather told AllHipHop.com. “He’s a good artist but he’s not the next Biggie Smalls. There’s only one Biggie and there’s only one Pac. The thing is this, rap is story telling. It’s not true. If somebody had those many guns, done that much killing or sold that much work or hustled that much, of course they would be in prison.”

Mayweather admitted that Rick Ross is a good Hip-Hop artist, but stated that he has no plans on supporting the rapper’s releases.

“A lot of times people think I’ma downplay somebody because we may not get along or we may not see eye to eye,” Mayweather told AllHipHop.com. “He’s had songs that’s been cool.
